3am Mixtapes: Episode Ninety One: New Music

Each week on the 3am Mixtapes podcast, I will share with you the Top Six Songs of a certain subject. The topics can be as general as best 90s songs. Some might be a little more... specific. Top Six Song That Dave Grohl Played On.

And recently I've been pretty overwhelmed with all the new music coming out, so this week I'm keeping it simple with the Top Six Songs That Have Come Out In The Last Month Or So!

Check these out:

"Oh Donna" by Library Voices
"Monument" by Mutemath
"Ontario Morning" by The Most Serene Republic
"All My Life I Have Been Running" by Evening Hymns
"Spirits" by The Strumbellas
"Freedom! '15" by !!! (Chk Chk Chk)

3am Mixtapes: Episode Thirty: Tearjerkers

Each week on the 3am Mixtapes podcast, I will share with you the Top Six Songs of a certain subject. The topics can be as general like most joyful songs. Some might be a little more... specific. Top Six Opposite Songs.

This week I decided to go a little weepy. A wise man once said "Sad songs say so much" so this week it is the Top Six Songs To Make You Curl Up Into The Fetal Position and Bawl! Yes, tearjerkers and heartwrenchers (but not necessarily breakup songs, those are coming later) for a collection of songs that will just reach inside you, grab your heart, and punt it across the room.

Get your tissues out for:

"Margaret Downe" by Aidan Knight
"Casimir Pulaski Day" by Sufjan Stevens
"Basket" by Dan Mangan
"Breathe Me" by Sia
"You and Jake" by Evening Hymns
"Left and Leaving" by The Weakerthans

3am Mixtapes: Episode Three: Lying on a Hillside

Hey look, it's another episode of 3am Revelations' very own podcast!

Each week on 3am Mixtapes, I will present to you, in my dulcet tones, the Top Six Songs of a certain subject. The topics can be as broad and vague and Best Duets, or they can be as obscure and specific as Best Ukulele Songs.

This week, I was thinking about driving songs. There are plenty of "roadtrip mixes", for speeding down a highway on bright and sunny days, but what about other times? So this week, I give you the Top Six Songs To Listen To While Lying on a Hill in the Middle of Summer While Staring Up At The Stars. They're the "songs of the summer", but not the ones about getting lucky or lines that are blurred. Ones that are more introspective; thoughtful songs.

Featured on this week's podcast is:

"Baptism" by We Are The City
"Family Tree" by Evening Hymns
"A Soft Place to Land" by Kathleen Edwards
"Sometimes I Forget You’ve Gone" by Dirty Three
"Lazarus" by Porcupine Tree
"Dondante" by My Morning Jacket

Any questions or comments or criticisms or suggestions for future themes are welcome!
