3am Mixtapes: Episode Eighty Six: Polaris '015

Each week on the 3am Mixtapes podcast, I will share with you the Top Six Songs of a certain subject. The topics can be as general as best drum solos. Some might be a little more... specific. Top Six Bands That Sound Nothing Like Their Name Implies.

While my goal is to not repeat topics on this podcast, I figures with a new long list of different albums, it would be okay to do another Polaris Music Prize themed episode. So this week is the Top Six Albums I'd Pick Were I a Polaris Juror in 2015! (Which I'm not). Well, five picks, and one overlooked album.

Vote for:

"Take Your Face Off" by Lydia Ainsworth
"Deserter" by Siskiyou
"Taste" by Braids
"Four More Years" by Rich Aucoin
"Cynical Bastards" by Arkells
"Harriet" by Hey Rosetta!

Each week on the 3am Mixtapes podcast, I will share with you the Top Six Songs of a certain subject. The topics can be as general like best of 2006. Some might be a little more... specific. Top Six Bands Named Someone and the Somethings.

This week is a pretty straightforward list. Now that we're out of the summer drought, a lot of great music will be coming out in the next little while, so I figured I'd take a listen at some things I am really excited or intrigued by. It's the Top Six Upcoming Albums!

Get excited for:

"My Favourite Faded Fantasy" by Damien Rice

"Happy Idiot" by TV On The Radio
"Kintsukuroi" by Hey Rosetta!

Each week on the 3am Mixtapes podcast, I will share with you the Top Six Songs of a certain subject. The topics can be as general like Top Six Guitar Solos. Some might be a little more... specific. Top Six Kazoo Solos.

Seeing as it will officially be the first day of spring in a couple days, I figure this week will be the Top Six Songs To Help You De-Hibernate! Unless you live in the crazy parts of Canada where it's still snowing, the sun will be (or has been) back and you'll need song songs to put the proverbial spring in your step.

3am Mixtapes: Episode Seventeen: Christmas Songs

Each week on the 3am Mixtapes podcast, I will share with you the Top Six Songs of a certain subject. The topics can be as general like favourite songs of the year. Or some might be a little more... esoteric. Top Six Songs With The Number Six In The Title.

It's about that time of the year where music everywhere is infiltrated with Christmas carols and songs. And there's not much you can do if, like me, you don't really care for Christmas Music. Which is why I bring you this week's Top Six Christmas Songs for People That Hate Christmas Songs.

Featuring the musical stylings of:

"Puddleglum" by Said the Whale
"Snow" by The Zolas
"A Cup of Kindness Yet" by Hey Rosetta!

"Fairytale in New York" by The Pogues
"The Night Santa Went Crazy" by Weird Al Yankovic

3am Mixtapes: Episode One: First Tracks

These are the people who saw an overcrowded marketplace and said, "Me too!"

That's right. 3am Revelations once again has its very own podcast!

Each week on 3am Mixtapes, I will present to you, in my dulcet tones, the Top Six Songs of a certain subject. The topics can be as broad and vague and Best Summer Songs or Best Songs Featuring a Banjo,
or they can be as obscure and specific as Best Songs To Drive To At Dusk or Best Songs Featuring a Theremin.

The first week, I thought what better place to start than with the beginning. Top Six Opening Tracks. The first songs on an album. The ones that catch your attention and make you want to keep listening.

Featured on this weeks podcast is:

"Giant" by Matthew Good Band
"Like Eating Glass" by Bloc Party
"Nobody Moves Nobody Gets Hurt" by We Are Scientists
"Your Ex-Lover is Dead" by Stars
"New Goodbye" by Hey Rosetta!
"Fight Test" by The Flaming Lips

Any questions or comments or criticisms or suggestions for future themes are welcome!
